WHI - "Platypus"

Platypus is a medium sized cargo transporter for mid sized, solo mining ops. It carries two large containers for ore and got a docking port on it's back for varying sizes of small-grid mining ships. 8 small tanks of Hydrogen fuel keps it and your mining ship fuelled up for a limited amount of time. The main docking port for mining ships is located on it's back and for the ship itself there is another port on the rear of the ship for docking with stations. As usual with WHI ships it makes use of scripts and a timer block for docking / undocking.

Note for manual build: The hinge at the bottom is used to house a small grid antenna and/or beacon. Add them to the "PLP - Systems" group to turn on an off when docked.

Hi, I've repainted this beast and added more thrust to make it an ok-ish interplanetary transport - would you mid if i upload and credit your work?

The M5H works well with this ship, as well as the M4H tho its not as efficient.
This ship is not fitted to fly on planets. Maybe if you replace one of the cargo containers with a large hydro it could work as long as you're just carrying ore, but that's a big maybe.

Looks great, will almost certainly be building this in the near future. Couple of quick questions if I may..
1. Which is the recommended WHI miner to go with this ship? (Looks like an M5H in the picture, so I'm guessing that one).
2. Was this designed for space to space travel only , or can it do planetary transitions when fully loaded?

Love the build! wondering where the LCD screen is as i seem to have missed it in the projection... also what are u using it for? i see u have automated LCDs 2 on this build

I might try making a more multi-purpose transport some day. Right now I'm working on a larger transport and bigger miner.

Hey man, love your ships, wondering if you could make a third mining transport, although I love the small size of the first 2, what it's missing is a refinery, that would really help with my solo ops.
