As a blaze of light shone through the darkness and it seemed that this bunker was finally coming to an end, a harsh reality hit like a sledgehammer and made you realize that this was but the beginning of another desperate escape.

Yeah, I looked at the button in Hammer and it's not well positioned. Logically you should be able to press it while standing right next to the door - having to step away from it before you can interact is perplexing.

For anyone stuck with the van at the start you have to be up against the fence and interact with the driver's door.
