Mashed's Spiribugs

Small insects, with brilliant metallic shells. Highly adaptable, spiribugs are found almost everywhere, you just need to know where to look for them. There is a small chance that a spiribug will appear when after harvesting a spiribush.

Both wild and tame spiribugs are attracted to petalaces. They will occasionally visit anyone wearing a petalace, progressing the bug towards its next moult.

A spiribug will leave behind some dust after moulting. Spiribug dust is somewhat valuable, and can be processed into some useful resources, or even turned into dye.


Three extra 'luxurious' petalaces are added, each one causing additional moult progress for their respective spiribug type.

  • Mashed's Ashlands (spiribugs are immune to ash storms)

Seeing as it's from a quest mod then I'm likely unable to do anything. They should really be checking pawnKind.canArriveManhunter.

Possibly an oversight more than an outright conflict? The quest spawns a psychic emanator on the map, and when you go there it has a bunch of "docile" animals that are immediately driven insane and you have to fight. So it might not be checking whatever flag you're using for that? I don't know how the internals of mod coding work.

It's one of the big quest mods, I've had it for so long that I kinda thought the quest was vanilla.

@Waladil, you might have a mod conflict there, as both spiribirds and spiribugs should be excluded from being selected as manhunter animals in quests.

Request: Please raise the "point value" or whatever of spiribugs.

Game tried to use them as defenders of a psychic emanator... there were about 600. And I think they were reproducing, too.

I probably could have eventually found a way to kill all of them fairly or semi-fairly (high armor + grenades), but holy cow the lag was just unreasonable. So I dev moded a lot of fire explosions.
