Canyum

Canyum is a brand-new, 100% original, full-size Shooutout map.

The map is set in a long canyon with a very outrageous, very vertical, and very unique layout. There are levels upon levels, natural and manmade bridges across the canyon, and some fatal drops for those who make the wrong step. The layout is intentionally complex and there are many different ways to traverse the map - I expect the more skilled and creative players to discover new things about the map long after they start playing. Although some of the routes in the map can be perilous, care has been taken to make sure that the map is not too difficult for new players. Canyum is also designed with the new slide and walljump features in mind, and there are plenty of opportunities to put these new perks to use.

I developed Canyum on-and-off from January until now, and this is my first totally original map for Fistful of Frags after learning the ropes with two 'ported' maps. One of my favourite things about Fistful of Frags is how different the maps are to each other - Cripplecreek is nothing like Robertlee, Revenge is nothing like Tortuga, Overtop is nothing like Sweetwater. I think there's a lot of potential in FoF mapping, and Canyum is my attempt to push the envelope in another new direction. I'm happy with, and proud of, the result - but moving forward I would like to try doing something a little less crazy...
