The mod was made before acid burns existed, but i am glad it even still works haha.
Feel free to do it if you want to. Actually I am even curious as to the devs implemented acid grenades, acid grenade launcher, etc. but didn't make this with acid sprayer a part of base game xD. Even though I wrote the mod I would not mind it at all if they implemented it as a base feature.
Also another thing to note:
If you want to update the mod, you can actually use the "acidmistemitter" to spawn a fog instead of the old long flame effects.
Here is an example:

<SpawnItem identifiers="acidmistemitter" spawnposition="This" />
</StatusEffect>
I modded our current gameplay with friends so acid grenade became actually a gas chamber grenade instead.
So yeah, there actually is acid gas in the game now which you can use.
