Although much heavier than other cruisers, the Skua was classified as a cruiser over a battlecruiser due to its relative size and role. The Skua was created to support the fleets by providing vital ammunition and fuel in the middle of heated battle. It is therefore much more heavily armored than other ammunition carriers, and carries its own weapon array for self-defense. The heavy armor carapace can be detached for easy maintenance.

The Skua features a large array of connectors suitable for docking with any class of ship, or having fighters land on its belly to re-arm and reload before heading back off into the battle.
