UT9M6 Seth

The UT9M6 Seth is one of Khertland's most advanced main battle tanks. Khertland vehicles are generally not very well shielded from electromagnetic pulse generated by high-atmospheric nuclear detonations. With the proliferation of nuclear arms, the Khertland army grew concerned that simply having CBRN protection is not enough if the filtration systems fail and more broadly, the tank left inoperable. The Seth was designed in response to all forms of EMP weapons.

The Seth undergone a large numbers of variations during the prototype stage trying to balance insulation and armor protection for kinetic and chemical rounds. Three companies participated in the bid, Lutum Steelworks, Dartanes Heavy Industries, and Mac Heavy Industries. Lutum Steelworks ultimately won the contract.

Significant amount of research went in to developing a coil of high-resistance wire made of rubber further insulated with dielectric gas forcing EMP to take a circuitous path. This technique is used to insulate the electronic components such that the tank is immune to any and all gun fired EMP from the front and sides. All of this was accomplished while still providing substantial protection against kinetic projectiles with 6.5m worth of RHAe on the hull front with spaced armor to counter chemical warheads like HEAT.

The Seth suffered from a protracted development schedule and resources was diverted to other programs halfway further delaying its introduction. However, once in service, the Khertland army wanted it to fill between a third to half of their tank force with the new model complementing the Escutcheon IV and used to expand the size of its tank force.
