Ridin' on the City of New Orleans,
Illinois Central, Monday morning rail

In 1950, the Illinois Cental expanded their existing passenger diesel fleet with an order of E8A units and B units, owning a total of 16 A units and 2 B units. The locomotives were assigned to some of Illinois Central's most famous routes, such as the Green Diamond, Panama Limited, and of course, the City of New Orleans.

These locomotives would serve Illinois Central well, eventually being leased and wholly taken over once Amtrak took over nation rail services in the 70s. However, their orange and brown paint schemes would survive for several years into the "rainbow era" of Amtrak, being mismatched with various other railroad liveries.

This pack includes nine repaints of themeatballhero's fantastic E8 locomotives, 4 E8As, with the original Illinois Central diamond herald, and a E8B to match, and 3 E8As with the newer Illinois Central "Split Rail" logo, and an E8B to match.
