DB BR 430

DB Class 430 EMU developed by a consortium made up of Bombardier and Alstom to replace the ageing fleets of the S-Bahn Rhein-Main and Stuttgart. From a technical standpoint, it is an upgrade of the Class 422/423, performance is comparable, the trains use less energy. Introduction date was supposed to be 2012, but due to delays that process lasted until 2015. The original batch was delivered by 2017, but further units are on order (and as of July 2022, delayed). The Stuttgart units are supposed to undergo a redesign and be refitted with ETCS and ATO by 2027.


The type has 8 driven axles for a total of 2350 kW and a top speed of 140 kph. 468 PAX/train, price per train 5.6 M, 3 trains can be coupled.
