Pre-Release Bullsquid

Originally created by Jeff "CGJeff" Smith ( http://cgjeff.com/ ), this is a recreation of the Bullsquid as seen on pre-release photos and videos, before the design was changed.

Using as base the Bullsquid mesh from the SDK 2007 mod with some mesh fixes, the original untouched texture found on Jeff's portfolio + the blood on the tentacles from the SDK 2007 version, and the eye meshes from the 2006 BMS content leak, this is the closest to have the original model working on retail BMS.

While the SDK 2007 version featured a blinking animation in between the bullsquid animations, sadly these are incompatible with retail, as at one point the bullsquid rig was altered. Recreating these are still possible, but it would mean modifying all the current animations for that.

Included on this are some basic gib reskins. I planned at first having custom gibs for the new head, but I no longer have the free time for that.
Probably at another time, I will edit the VMT and ragdoll, as the default settings are atrocious.

As the BMS devs declared, the contents from the 2006 BMS content leak falls under the same license as the released SDK 2007 mod: Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0 Unported License ( http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ ).
As a such, there are no issues for this submission to be published on Workshop.

I'm not sure why but I don't seem to be able to get this to work. I've subscribed but the model still shows as the default BM one?

Maybe the bullsquid is not a predator, the only thing we see it eating are headcrabs and dead bodies, they attack humans, but just kinda spit at them fror far and only when you get close they actually attack, i'd say bullsquids are like both, they hunt smaller and weaker animals but are hunted themselves probably by houndeyes or aliens we did not get to see.

Also this design just kinda looks sick as hell.

@CyborgParrot I'd argue them having eyes on the sides of the skull is great at implying some horrifying things about Xen or where ever they came from. If the acid spitting tentacle monster is prey, what is its predator?

An alien creature doesn't have to follow Earth logic, therefore the change was still not needed, especially being an inferior one

I guess from a biological perspective it kind of makes sense we ended up with the Bullsquid design we got, being a predator that hunts based on vision they would need to be able to have binocular vision and all that (like imagine if our eyes, or the eyes of a Tiger, or the eyes of a T.Rex were on the side of their skull, they'd be kind of at a disadvantage).

With that said, it's nice to see cut content restored and added back. :steamthumbsup:
