USSR- WWII - NKVD (1943-1945)

This pack depicts the uniforms of the NKVD and NKGB of the Soviet Union from 1943-1945. This era saw the NKVD adopting the same shoulder-board system that the Red Army adopted in 1943. The NKVD went through several uniform changes during this time, primarily adopting the color of cornflower blue for all insignia.

The NKVD, the Russian abbreviation for "People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs," was the primary Internal Government entity of the Soviet Union from 1934 to its replacement by the MVD in 1946. It was tasked with the administration of the country's Law Enforcement, Prisons, Labor Camps, and until 1943, intelligence. Intelligence and Internal Security was separated from the NKVD in 1943 into the "People's Commissariat of State Security," or NKGB. However, the NKGB was still effectively controlled by the leader of the NKVD, Lavrentiy Beria.

An Office Style Service Uniform for Generals and Officers
A Parade Uniform for all ranks

These uniforms contain divisional colors, here is what they mean:
Blue - State Security (Officers in the Internal Troops also wore blue shoulderboards)
Red - Internal Troops of the NKVD
Green- Border Troops of the NKVD

Uniform design was based off of extensive research of the 1943 Uniform Regulations and General Orders. Features from later uniform regulations, such as the double-breasted parade tunic are not present.
