---Story---
Following the conclusion of the grueling six-year First World War, the Treaty of Versailles, signed on June 28, 1921, marked the official end of the conflict.

The Armistice had already been declared a year earlier, on November 11, 1920, ceasing all engagements.

However, the treaty dealt harsh punishments to the Central Powers, now fragmented and crippled, including the United States. For its role in the war, the U.S. faced severe economic sanctions, particularly from the British Empire, effectively isolating the nation from international trade and crippling its economy.

The sanctions plunged America into an economic crisis unparalleled in history. Food prices soared, employment opportunities disappeared, and poverty spread like wildfire.

The Great Depression of our universe paled in comparison to the desolation faced by the U.S. in this alternate timeline. Struggling to sustain itself, the nation turned to its burgeoning airship industry, which became a lifeline for its economy.

Trade was conducted illicitly, hidden from the prying eyes of the British, with clandestine deals struck with Nazi Germany and the Kingdom of Italy. These ventures tied the United States to the Axis Powers in secret, with the nation formally joining the Anti-Comintern Pact on November 25, 1936, after Joachim von Ribbentrop, the man who represented Germany during the Drafting of the Axis Powers secretly added the United States to the Major power nations.

This fragile balance collapsed with the Hindenburg disaster in 1937. The tragic event dealt a crushing blow to the U.S. airship industry and exposed America's covert relationship with Nazi Germany.

The British Empire responded by tightening sanctions further, pushing the U.S. economy to the brink of complete collapse. The revelation of America's affiliation with the Axis Powers fanned the flames of animosity between the United States and the Allied nations.

In 1938, the situation reached a boiling point. French spies sabotaged the airship Horizon during a transatlantic voyage, causing it to crash into the Atlantic Ocean and killing all on board.

This catastrophic event, known as the Horizon Disaster, became a rallying cry for the U.S. government and its citizens, who viewed it as a deliberate act of aggression by France.

In retaliation, the United States launched a brutal assault on the Mediterranean island of Lemrah, home to the spies responsible for the tragedy. The attack annihilated the island's population and marked a turning point in the U.S.’s descent into open conflict.

By December 1938, the U.S. economy had completely crumbled under relentless Allied sanctions. On September 1, 1939, driven by years of suffering, economic ruin, and unyielding anger toward the Allied powers, the United States joined Nazi Germany in the invasion of Poland.

A year later, they launched a retaliatory invasion of France in 1940. These actions ignited World War II, with the U.S. fully committed to the Axis cause and determined to reclaim its place as a global power.
