Ever wanted to know what it was like 37 years ago in one of gmod's classic maps? Factortown is a remake of Downtown_tits made to fully embrace the past. Almost every building was hand crafted just for this map. Every building you see in this map is loosely inspired off of the modern buildings you find in Downtown. The map was made to be stylistically pleasing and fully usable on role play servers.

The VMF for this map will be/is public so people can make whatever edits they want. The map has NO custom assets. All textures and model are from mounting CSS to gmod. This is so modifying the map is easier.

This is just the first version of the map. A lot of common areas are missing such as the Underground and Forest. Keen eyes will also notice that the skybox is simply a box and certain areas (like PD) have mysterious ghost walls. If you're worried about these issues the reasons why they're here are listed below:

1. The skybox is like this because we got lazy and simply wanted people to enjoy the map. Eventually a future version of this map will have an optimised skybox

2. Missing locations is also because we're a little lazy. Most people don't touch the Forest or Underground on servers anyway so in our eyes it's a worthy temporary sacrifice.

3. The ghost walls are completely out of our control, we have no idea how to fix them. They will simply haunt the map for eternity or until we/someone finds a solution.

This map was obviously made for the server we run, FactorRP. An Australian DarkRP server set in 1985. That being said. ANYONE is allowed to use the map and modify it to their hearts content. We completely encourage other mappers/creators. While we did not credit ourselfs in the map, we hope people will at least know who originally posted the map.
