HMCS Great Nova

Hey everyone, here's the ninth airship of this release, the carrier Great Nova. Great Nova has a long and storied history. Originally launched as a heavily armed ironclad transport, she had an upper deck used for cargo and her underside mounted three simple rotating turrets. When the need for carriers of heavier than air craft emerged, Great Nova was seen as an ideal candidate, despite her advanced age and somewhat out of date armament. Just like the cargo vessel she had been before, the new carrier Great Nova could have a fully functional upper deck, now used for planes, while still mounting a powerful underside armament to discourage close assault. Ultimately this need in carrier doctrine proved unfounded as carriers should never reach gunnery range of their enemies, but Great Nova's crew are confident that they are ready for that, should the eventuality ever arise.

Great Nova is probably my most asymmetric design yet, but I'm quite proud of it. She has eight cannons per side in casemates, two twin 300mm guns on the port side and one on the starboard, with cross"deck" firing. She also has two 150mm guns on the starboard side (to balance out the extra port main gun) and two 94mm guns around the island. Both sides have six twin 40mm simple AA on a deck above the casemates, while the island side has an extra two and the opposite side an extra four. She has a port side funnel that is angled to the side, under the flight deck, like some Japanese carriers used. You may notice a rather complete absence of planes for this being a carrier. I haven't decided what complement I want to give her, so I'll leave that up to you for now. if you grab the planes from my other BPs you should be able to choose between a wooden biplane dive bomber, a wooden rocket bomber, a CRAM dive bomber, and a super tiny compact APS fighter that Samson made for me to use. I'll probably update her with a proper aircraft complement at some point, but for now it's on you. Enjoy!
