Designed at Kia's design center in California, the Soul debuted at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and is manufactured in South Korea.

On November 21, 2018, Kia Motors released teaser pictures of the new Soul, This third-generation, complete redesign places an updated version of the Soul’s iconic shape on top of an all-new platform.
