The Bogen-class cruiser is ASD's dedicated long range gunnery platform.
At the time the ship was designed, the novelties ASD brought in its first years on the public scene had become widely used, and the corporation had already started to fall behind in terms of innovation. With the hope of regaining a technological edge over competitors, CEOs Adrastos Doukas and Erwin Lehmann devised a plan for a major overhaul of ASD's design philosophy. Thus came about this ship, the first of many designs to be produced in accordance with the "New Guidelines", as it is referred to by ASD's insiders.
With the fleet modernisation program, came new naming conventions. Stahl Defense systems lobbied for something that would evoke the ship's main purpose above all else, thus somewhat uncreatively naming it the Bogen-class (Bogen meaning "bow" in german).
This didn't please Aster Shipyards' members of the board, who wanted to retain some of the poetry that could be found in naming the ships after Greek mythological figures, be it heroes or gods.
After a few days of arguing (and some formal complaints on behalf of Aster Shipyards), it was decided that the class name would remain unchanged, but that the ships themselves would be named after Dryads, "Karya" being the first of the bunch.
The ship itself had to be rushed into service as the Second Secession War began, leaving a substantial amount of design flaws and technical faults unresolved, the most notable of which being that her radar system was already obsolete by the time she entered service, and that her fire control system had trouble acquiring solid locks on targets because of electromagnetic interference.
As one could expect, her first engagement with the Kamari forces went poorly. She received a direct railgun hit from an enemy cruiser, which took out her power, followed by a missile strike that caused an explosive decompression in the front quarters because of faulty bulkheads.
Fortunately for her, however, her overall construction was sturdy enough that she could be recovered.
She then went on to receive a series of refits that negated her most severe issues, namely, the installation of an advanced radar system (the four octagonal panels that you can see around the hull) as well as a decent point defense grid, complemented by reinforced bulkheads to prevent crewmen from making an unsavory trip into the cold vacuum of space.
She would make history as the record holder for the longest disabling hit scored on a moving target at the hands of Commodore Adhara Ixchel, when she sniped the ammunition storage of a Kamari battleship from over 2 000 kilometers away (curse you and your weapon ranges, Keen), rendering it inoperable with a few well-placed follow-up shots.
The class has since then seen relatively little action, as it is mainly deployed in large fleet battles due to its somewhat specialised role. Nevertheless, the design has proved its worth.

@AshleyRiot Kind of surprised that you managed to make it work in survival x). It was built for aesthetics first and foremost, and while I made it so that it could work in survival, I don't believe it is that practical to use. Really nice to know that I was wrong, apparently ^^

Incredible. Especially the reverse thruster layout and the turret designs. I've built in in vanilla survival with a friend and it is a beast!

@leon_55 That's odd, same thing happened to me not long ago with another build... Perhaps this is a common issue; I don't really know what's causing it, though... Maybe you can find an answer on the forums.
