WHAT IS THIS?

Whispers is a multi-part story series loosely based in the narrative of Barotrauma. I’m trying to be lore friendly while still taking my own little spin on the fascinating world that FakeFish and Undertow Games created. This is very non-cannon.

The map uses text boxes over the environment to convey information and narrative, a little like point and click adventure games. Move the cursor over scenery, like a bookshelf or poster, and I’ll usually have a memory component with text overlaid to give some information about that scenery. Make sure to up the Aim Assist by a lot so you don’t miss any of the text boxes.


STORY

You play the head of a maintenance crew keeping a massive satellite dish on the highly irradiated surface of Europa in operation. The dish is the lifeline between Europa and the rest of humanity (including Earth who doesn't seem to be on speaking terms with the coalition right now). You ship any communications received to people who are probably more important and powerful then you’ll ever hope to be, and then ensure their response is transmitted.

The days drag on through a haze of radiation and monotony until your mind slowly turns into mush. This is where the story begins.


HOW TO PLAY

1. Subscribe to both this mod and SOFA's DECO mod.

2. It’s a single player story, so I recommend creating a private server and setting the difficulty to easy so that nothing spawns that I didn’t intend.

3. Set NPC crew mates to 0.

4. It's best if you select one of the captain classes (since they start with a pistol).

5. Enter "game" into the map seed to ensure you spawn in something of a void that doesn't shake the whole map until you want to vomit.

Have fun and let me know if any horrible bugs start eating the map. I have lots of bug spray and I'm ready to use it.
