On the note of the raiders; I had no idea they show up in force on hardcore that early. I actually didn't test my hardcore. I'll take a look into my raider settings for it, I'll roll out an update in next day or two for you. :)

Because they are only with 2, the management aspect gets lost. I never had to build new structures, just repair the existing ones. Perhaps this could get better if they got kids, and migration of an additional person would occur if one of the kids reach adulthood (husband/wife).
Also watch out for the raiders on hardcore mode. I had 2 raiders on my doorstep when I was still in the paleolithicum, and one of them had a steel spear and the other one a bronze sword with an oval shield. I survived because they were most interested in destroying the huts, but the 3 that came afterwards killed my couple.
