F-4EJ Kai JASDF

The F-4EJ Kai is the Japanese license built variant of the F-4E Phantom, which are used by the Japanese Air Self Defense Force (JASDF).

Japan purchased 140 F-4E Phantoms from the United States in 1968, but without aerial refueling, nuclear or conventional ground attack capabilities, or Bullpup ASM compatibility.

138 of the type were built under license in Japan by Mitsubishi. The Japanese F-4EJ carries an internal 20mm Vulcan cannon, APQ-120 radar, the J79-GE-17 turbojet engine, and better fuel capacity than earlier variants.
