(SV CPU Tier 4, Class 1, Unlock Level 20)

Primary roles: Tunnel Boring Miner, Heavy Shield, harvest storage, some defense, utility, Reforged Eden only

The Merc-TBM (Tunnel Boring Miner) is a specialty miner meant to be able to get precious ore in hostile areas. This however is not done by engaging the enemies, but by ignoring them and burrowing in the ground staying mostly out of harms way. It is set up with a heavy shield with 6 shield capacitors allowing you to take some hits while boring in the ground near enemy bases etc. It is not designed for hit and run tactics as the shield will take awhile to recharge and does not have much in offensive weapons. It however does come with 4 gatling guns and 3 minigun turrets. The TBM also has 21K harvest storage, 1K ammo storage, fridge, O2 and dispenser, armor locker, constructor, wifi, detector, and spotlights. It also has P menu controls for activating mining drills, spotlights, and a high performance flight mode. It also comes with a fairly powerful thruster set up for drilling as well as moving a full load of ore.

Tunnel Boring

As the name suggests, the Merc-TBM was made to create clean tunnels underground. It has the clearance to not get obstructed mining in a forward direction and uses 10 laser drills to allow for the body to pass thru the hole created easily. Because of this, I could not add much in extra blocks past the outer drill locations, however the central locations of mounted turrets does not hamper moving thru self created tunnels which can be made fairly quickly.

Offense and defense

The hull is made with hardened steel. All cargo extensions are behind either hull blocks or thrusters leaving none exposed on the exterior. It comes with a SV Heavy shield (1500 HP) + 6 shield capacitors (500 HP each) bringing the total shield to 4500 HP. This is to allow for some hits while boring underground in hostile areas.

I am trying to spawn this machine into my Reforged Eden 2 game, but I get this message in my blueprint library: exceeds max number for certain block type or blueprint type disabled by server. I have set the class size to zero in my server settings so anything should go. Any help would be appreciated. I constantly rebuild vanilla or Reforged Eden 1 machines so I am very familiar with the process. I just haven't run across this blockade before. Thank you for such great builds, I think you are a true artist.

@Darber Very good assessment. Would like to add, that if you need a miner to clear asteroids in SV-only combat sites (after baddies have been dealt with), then TBM will fit this role very nicely - for me it normally has enough spare CPU capacity to just stick jump drive behind it temporarily. Then you jump, mine what you need, and then just remove and stash jump drive for later use. Simples.

I've used the TBM through multiple playthroughs.

Every time i feel like trying something else....I always come back to this beast.

It's not just a miner, oh no!
"As Is" it will support 3 multitools(i place them directly below the cockpit)

Replace the gats with rails(but leave the turrets!), and you then have a POI buster.

Very well made ship. It handles high gravity, magmacite, POIs(Alien Fortress? lol) and of course mining. Great for getting through the engineer class 5000 block grind!

Back in the Game - and I cheat in solo Original EGS - everything spawns!

Although, I play in the Unknown Skies with Chilimeat mostly, so always good to go there.

For those that want to use this SV in vanilla, you need to replace the minigun turrets as they are HV turrets

Hi - I spawned this ship in creative and replaced two of the front gatlin guns with tool turrets and replaced the two side turrets with retractable ones. All of the specs including the weight (except lift going down a couple tons) are the same yet the yaw went from 54 to 36. I can't figure out why. This is the one thing I can't stand when it gets below 50. Any ideas? Would love to use this ship. thanks. Btw, in Reforged Eden and the ship works great in creative as spawned.

I managed to retro-engineer this into vanilla. Not quite as capable, but still a good mining vessel and all around decent SV!

Laser Drill level 1 or 2?
While The iperguide is not present?
