Before the Resonance Cascade happened and flipped the world topsy-turvy, Aperture Science and Black Mesa were deadlocked in a scientific race, to be the best science company in the nation! But, years later, as both companies remain a shell of their former selves, Aperture's got some tech that an exterior force has their eyes on…


Everyone who's seen Half-Life 2: Episode Two knows of the infamous Borealis cliffhanger, with the Combine after whatever Aperture Science tech awaits within its metallic hull. It could restart the 7-Hour War… but it wouldn't even last 7 minutes, depending on who got their hands on it first! But, if the Borealis got destroyed before anyone could use it, there's a chance the next plan of action would be to head straight to the manufacturer… Aperture Laboratories!

And so, here is one multiverse's interpretation of the aforementioned events! The Combine got here before the Resistance did, and a personality core has gone searching for capable test subjects to help fend off the invaders before they steal all of Aperture's research! Do you fit the bill they're looking for? Let's find out!

Map features included:
~ A small shooting range located within the halls of Aperture Science! Welcome to Factory 08!
~ This part of the facility's riddled with safety hazards--use these clear OSHA violations to help take down the Combine! Trapdoors and bomb tubes!
~ Features two modes of play; Free Mode, where the Combine remain indifferent to your presence, and Survival Mode, where they will actively be trying to gun you down! These Combine have got nothing left to lose, so they'll pull out every stop they have to stop you!
~ That may include their piled-up corpses lagging and crashing your game when in excess numbers, so do be wary; I couldn't fix that
~ Partly inspired by the Bow & Arrow in The Lab and the shooting range from Aperture Desk Job!
~ Ling the Administrative Assistance Core voiced by 15.ai
~ All the Portal 2 content is already packed, you do not need to mount Portal 2

This map was purely spurred on by the fact that shooting ranges in Aperture Science are fun. So why not spin a small narrative into a new one? …yeah! It's also rather experimental. It can be found under gm_aperturetakeover
