The Quintar Reserve shortcut is actually a bit more forgiving than the guide suggests, since you can get on that mesa from the southern side, as well, with only a few seconds lost. Having a second chance is nice, given that your opponents pass under a tree at the northeast corner, knocking you off if you don't jump in time.
I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble. I remember reading some Quintar mood management tips in a different Steam guide, which expand upon the terse overview given by the duck NPCs next to the bookshelves in the Quintar Race registration counter room.
Speaking of guides, i myself am trying to do the most compressive possible guide to fill up the archive, as well as one describing all the side quests and how to do them, and yet another for the locations of the pouches, and i was considering doing the same thing for silver geodes, but scraped the idea... Well, as you can guess, it's... Complicated and long. So far, i am only at 4 crystals, and i already wrote enough words for the first one to be classified as a book. ^^'
