GE U28C and U28B (LEGACY)

UPDATE 5/3/2022: Fixed a problem with the U28B having a mesh glitch inside the cab.


This series is nearing the end of this range with nearly all models being made, except the U25's. For now, here are the successors to the U25C, the GE U28C plus the 4 axle variant, the U28B. As usual, the history:

This model was an updated model from the U25C, with a total of 71 units built within 1966, as for the U28B's with 148 production units between 1966 and 1967. An interesting note about the U28B's was tht the early production units of the U28B's had the same carbody has the U25B's, with later units having the same style as the rest of the units. Both models were rated with 2800hp, and more tractive effort then their predecessors. The more notable variant was the Santa Fe's passenger U28C's known as the "U28CG", which were dual-service locomotives with new gearing and steam generator for passenger services. Sadly, these locomotives were eventually downgraded for freight service.

Today, 3 U28's survive into preservation, which include Transkenucky Transportation 260 at the Illinois Railway Museum, and L&N 2504 currently at Oak Ridge, TN. The only U28C to survive is UP #2804 at the Museum of Transportation in St Louis, where the body of the locomotive has been removed to show the workings of the iconic U-boats.

As usual, there are 3 variants per each model (including the U28CG), plus template versions so you can make your own. These are also the first U-boats in the range to be converted to the new train modding system, as evident with the smoke. Enjoy this for now, and see you with the next release of the U-boat.
