CC1M1 Esturion

The CC1M1 Esturion is a lightly armored 8x8 armored car/wheeled tank destroyer in service with the Khertland army. It is armed with a 152mm(304mm actual) tank gun as seen on the Escutcheon IV main battle tank giving it heavy firepower in combination with high mobility. All 8 wheels are driven and uses skid steering to turn the hull.
The Esturion is designed to serve as the maneuver element for armored formations conducting flanking and exploitation maneuvers in support of the breakthrough conducted by tanks. By itself the Esturion is remarkably weak but when operating in combination with a main battle tank like the Escutcheon, it has a force multiplying effect, capable of defeating larger enemy armored formations than what a more expensive pure tank formation could.
This was born out of Khertland's new 2021 armored doctrine where tactical units fully embraces the idea of fire and maneuver. The main battle tank serves as the fire element, facing the opposition directly in a head on engagement designed to attract enemy fire and thus were designed to be survivable. The Esturion formed the maneuver element that takes advantage of the distraction to maneuver to the side and hit enemy tanks where their armor is thinnest. This hammer and anvil combination have so far achieved great success in exercises against equipment similar to those used by peer adversaries.

The army announced on December 20th, 2023; the CC1M1 Esturion will be phased out starting in 2024, replaced by the Falx in front line service.
