Maybe Steam needed some time to download the files after subscribing? That's the only thing that comes to mind, other than that you're not subscribed.
Regarding your question, check the AMAZON.xml in the mapstyles folder. There you'll find several entries tagged with "trees" or "mountains". These entries usually refer to clusters of objects, and you can copy paste them to create more or play around with their values. A few tips: When the game crashes to desktop right after starting a new match without going into the loading screen then there are too many objects for the map size you've chosen. The game always tries to keep a certain distance between objects and if it can't do that, it will crash. Also, SCALE in the xml means that the value there changes with the map size. And if you want to quickly test your changes I recommend going into the scenario editor and generating maps there, the game automatically calls upon the xml files each time it starts generating and doesn't need to be restarted for that to work.
Quick question: Is it possible to make Amazon even more dense with mountains and trees? I kind of want the map to look more like Brazil from CTW with very little room for movement. I can dabble with XML and was looking into it but would appreciate some pointers.
