Designed to participate in long-range expeditions as a reconnaissance drone, Pathfinder was actively used during the expansion of Consolidation in an unexplored region of Far Frontier. Since the main reconnaissance ship at that time was the OPC Wanderer, which, due to its mass and size, was not adapted to frequent flights in high gravity conditions (at least if you did not have large ice reserves), a small drone capable of operating in a large radius from the landing site was needed to help him.
In addition to working as a research drone, Pathfinder, thanks to its built-in ore scanner, has established itself as a search drone for planetary miners who would need more time to search for ore using ground transport.
Over time, the demand for Pathfinder within the Consolidation fell and the remaining unused models were decided to be put up for sale on the foreign market, where researchers and miners outside the Consolidation might be interested in them.
