DB BR 408 "ICE 3neo"

Siemens Velaro MS (Multi System) produced for Deutsche Bahn to increase numbers of the ICE 3 fleet. The type is an evolution of the Velaro D (DB Class 407) capable of operating under 15 and 25 kV AC as well as 1.5 and 3k DC. Traction motors are distributed across the cars for a total of 8000 kW of power.

DB has ordered a total of 73 units in two batches, compared to the previous types it has an improved interior and accessibility as well as luggage and bicycle storage. Each train has 439 seats, in the mod the total capacity is 526 PAX to account for the fact that DB does not require seat reservations and sometimes runs the trains with more passengers than there are seats. Two trains can be coupled.
