Bigol's Fighters (Weaponcore)

描述
This script launches DISPOSABLE Fighters and bombers from your main grid to engage in close passes of the enemy.
It uses weapon core targeting, from either the main grid OR from the fighters themself.

If Fighters pass outside of their weapon range from target they will give up chasing.

It is recommended that fighters do not have shields as separating grids that both have shields will cause one of the grids to temporarily loose shields, experiment at your own risk.

Fighters may be armed with any AUTO AI locking weapon such as a weapon core turret, point defense systems etc but will not currently fire any weapons that REQUIRE a hard lock such as missiles or torpedoes.

The location relative to the target the fighters will attempt to get to is configurable in the script.
the values XOFFSET, YOFFSET and ZOFFSET determines how close the fighters will attempt to engage the target.
I recommend values from 150 to 300. Default is 200.

Simply name your merge blocks, your targeting weapons and all blocks on the fighters with the tag #A# then recompile the prog block, this parameter is configurable in script as well.

To initiate launch use the parameter 'Fire'.

Thanks go to RDAV for the guidance code for this script which I pulled from his missile script.
As an aside setting an offset of 0 will result in this being a missile script rather than fighter script, for simplicity sake I also have a current weapon core targeting version of Rdavs missile script available on my workshop.


Future plans: talk to my bud velcro and get this working with his drone block, and have it able to fire hard lock on weapons too.

sadly no - not that I know of. Weaponcore has undergone fundamental changes and I have since stopped playing SE, or at least competing in SE pvp (starcore) for which this was written. I suggest however that due to these changes fighter drones are now a part of weaponcore - there are mod blocks that handle the whole thing! I suggest searching YT for 'starcore' to find a community - they have a friendly discord that can guide you in finding mods and scripts to meet your needs - im in that discord but not really active.


For non weaponcore if interested you can use RDAV's missile script and edit the offset in the code to have them act like close pass fighters rather than missiles.. ie they are just missiles designed to miss!
