Found Universities Anywhere
Adds a new "Found University" major decision, on top of the already existing vanilla one. It does not replace the vanilla decision in order to maximize compatibility (should be compatible with all game versions), and to allow you to still found any of the four unique universities in the game.

In vanilla, you can only found a university in one of nine baronies in the entire map (as well as four unique named universities)! Almost all of which are in Europe.

This mod changes that by allowing you to found a university in any barony inside your realm! However, you can only do so in a barony that:
  • has 40 or more development (like vanilla),
  • does not have a special building slot already,
  • is the county capital

Additionally, you must:
  • be a king or an emperor,
  • be at least Exalted among Men,
  • have the scholar trait

This decision will only become visible when you are either a king or an emperor, and meet any one of the two following requirements:
  • have fame level Exalted among Men or higher, OR
  • own an eligible barony

So if you don't see the decision, make sure the above applies to you first. You will still need to meet the rest of the requirements before you can actually take the decision, however. The decision can then be taken again once every 50 years.

I felt this was a good balance, and will encourage playing tall, no matter where you are in the world.

Compatibility
Should be compatible with all mods, and fully save-game compatible. Feel free to enable and disable at any time. Any universities built with this mod will safely stay in your save game.

Highly recommend using with my other Balanced Buyable Building Slots mod!

This mod is currently localized in English, Español, Deutsch, Français, Русский, and 简体中文.

(Note: found_universities_anywhere_decision_desc does not have to be translated. I will use the vanilla decision's localization for this key.)

@jack.ace in the mean time, you can use script to add special building slot (see about running script at https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/scripting-cheats-for-debug-console-to-use-run-command.1420736/ ) the script that I used in this situation is:

title:b_???={
title_province={
add_special_building_slot=generic_university
}
}

Where "b_???" should be replaced with the code for barony you want the special building slot located at.

@jack.ace It won't work, as well as all mods that aren't updated for the new patch, because Paradox changed the syntax (language) of the code in 1.13.0. So the way the mod is written isn't valid any more. You'll have to wait for an update.

Hello, I love your mod !
but with the new patch is shows empty text for me and if I click on the decision nothing happens

I had trouble getting it to work with the AGOT mod, did some digging and found that the special building generic_university is disabled by the total conversion.

If you're having similar problems it may be fixed by going into the total conversion mod's folders and locating the 00_special_building file in the buildings folder and removing the #s before each line of the building to.

For AGOT the path was C:\...\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\1158310\2962333032\common\buildings
