NZR EM Pack

The NZR EM class (also known as Ganz-Mavags) were used on suburban services in Wellington, New Zealand from 1982 to 2016. The name "Ganz-Mavag" comes from the units' manufacturer, Ganz-MÁVAG. They were built in between 1979 and 1982, and first entered service in 1982. They were refurbished in between 1996 and 2002, with EM 1373 and ET 3373 being refurbished a second time into what was nicknamed the "Super Ganz" in 2010.

At this point 2 EM sets have been saved by heritage groups. EM 1505/ET 3505 by Wellington Multiple Unit Heritage Trust, and EM 1373/ET 3373 by Canterbury Rail Society.
