I personally grew up with save icons having the shield downward, so that's my preference, and usually commercial ones were labeled in that direction too. Not sure why so many emojis flip it, to be honest.

Of course, I wonder how hard it would be to use something like what "Vanilla Textures Expanded - Variations" does and let people choose between Ceramic Disk, 9 1/2" Floppy, 5 1/2" Floppy, and 3 1/4" floppy, and SD card.
Techprints look like ceramic Memory Storage Modules for the IBM3340 [www.computerhistory.org] without the plastic cover.
I know this because my parents had one as a souvenir from the job they worked when they met, at RCA Computers.
