Star Warriors - A Star Wars Themed Mod for Star Traders: Frontiers!

The Star Warriors mod was built to bring the look and feel of the Star Wars genre into the Star Traders: Frontiers gaming system. At this point, it is primarily a graphical and sound mod, but I am hoping in the future to add additional ships/craft and Star Wars themed stories to the game, and perhaps some new types of characters too!

This mod would not have been possible without the pioneering efforts of @Dire_Venom. A number of the graphics and sound effects used in this mod were included in his original 2018 Star Wars themed mod, and are used with his permission.

1. Nine new playable species (can be played as Captain, Officer or Crew, and will also show up in enemy crew combat randomly) including:
   
   • Duros (male and female) (TC2)
     
   • Mon Calamari (male and female) (TC2)
     
   • Rodians (male and female) (TC2)
     
   • Sullustan (male and female) (TC2)
     
   • Trandoshan (male and female) (TC2)
     
   • Twi’Leks (male and female) (TC2)
     
   • Ugnaughts (male only – female Ugnaughts apparently do not care for space travel) (TC2)
     
   • Wookies (male only – apparently, female Wookies don’t care much for the Spacing life either) (TC2)
     
   • Zabraks (male and female) (TC2)
   
   All of these are additions, and do not replace any current crew faces.
   
   
2. 6 new human crew faces. You can now play as Han Solo, Lando Calrissian (old and young), Boba Fett (old and young) or Fennec Shand. (TC2)
   
   
3. New Outfits, Gloves/Hands and hats – Imperial Storm Trooper armor outfits, helmets, gloves. Wookie body/hands, Rodian hands and jazzy jumpsuit, Fennec Shand and Boba Fett outfits, helmets, gloves, and pilot helmets made for Sullustans. (TC2)
   
   
4. Star Wars Weapons available to both male and female crew and enemy crew:
   
   • E-11 Stormtrooper Blaster (replaces Assault Weapon)
     
   • Z-6 Rotary Blaster cannon (replaces HMG)
     
   • Wookie Blaster (replaces LMG)
     
   • Tuskan Raider Staff (Stunner)
     
   • Rebel Blaster Pistol (replaces Infantry Pistol)
     
   • Boba Fett’s Pistol Cannon (replaces Pistol Cannon)
     
   • DT-29 Heavy Blaster Pistol (replaces Heavy Pistol)
     
   • “Plasma Defender” Plasma Pistol (replaces Plasma Pistol)
     
   • MG-15/RT-97C Stormtrooper Blaster Rifle (replaces Sniper Rifle)
     
   • 773 Firepuncher Sniper Rifle (replaces Advanced Sniper Rifle)
     
   • Rebel Slugthrower (replaces Snubber)
     
   • Double-Barreled Imperial Blaster (replaces Assault Snubber)
     
   • T-21 Heavy Blaster (replaces Plasma Rifle)
     
   • Thermal Grenade (replaces Grenade)
     
   • 7 different Lightsabers (based on Dire_Venom original graphics)
   
   
5. Star Wars themed Contact and Story portraits. The basic stories and contacts remain as they are – only the portraits are changed at this point. (Dire_Venom & TC2)
   
   
6. Fly the Millennium Falcon! This takes the place of the popular Gal-Tek Freighter. (Dire_Venom)
   
   
7. Star Wars themed banners for each faction (Dire_Venom graphics)
   
   
8. Recolored Map Icons Mod by ptarth (Thanks ptarth!!)
   
   
9. New Star Wars themed planet backdrops, galaxy map backgrounds and intro-scene graphics (Dire_Venom)
   
   
10. Star Wars themed music and sound effects throughout (Dire_Venom & TC2)

1. I strongly recommend backing up your saved games before running Star Warriors Mod.
   
   
2. Subscribe to the Star Warriors mod on the Steam Workshop. The mod will be automatically updated when changes are made.
   
   
3. Run the Star Warriors mod using the “Moddable Star Traders: Frontiers” version of the game. The first time you run the moddable STF game after subscribing to the Star Warriors Mod, you will have to select and activate it from the “Mod Config” list on the right side of the main STF screen.
   
   
   Make sure to give Star Warriors mod your LOWEST priority in the mod list!
   
   Any other mods that are given lower priority may overwrite large chunks of the Star Warriors experience. Any mod that is compatible with Star Warriors mod should be run at higher priority, but may not function correctly. Mods that may interfere with the Star Warriors mod include those that affect charactersprites (for example, hats, eyeware, outfits, faces, weapon images etc), mapbatch sheets, and (ship)sprite graphics.
   
   
4. After Activating Star Traders mod and giving it LOWEST priority, click the “Save and Exit” button below the Mod Config List.
   
   
5. Start Moddable Star Traders: Frontiers again, and you should be off to the Star Warriors universe!

IMPORTANT! If you want to be able to continue to play a saved game Captain that was saved while you were playing Star Warriors Mod, you MUST follow the below steps to avoid crashing the game!

1. While Star Warriors Mod is still enabled, launch your game, navigate to the crew screen, and for each individual crew member, in the “Visual” screen, change the uniform (outfit), face, and/or hat of each crew member to one that is NOT a Star Warriors graphic. Do this for EVERY crewmember. Verify there are no Star Warriors outfits, hats or faces for any crew member. You need not change gloves, eyeware, or weapons.
   
   
2. Save your game and exit to the main screen.
   
   
3. In the Mod Config Menu on the Main Screen, select the “Disable” button for the Star Warriors Mod, then select the “Save&Exit” button under the Mod Config Menu. This will exit ST:F
   
   
4. Restart ST:F and select/launch your Captain. Verify the game works properly by going to the crew screen. If the game crashes, repeat the above steps. If not, play on!

1. The faces of non-human species don’t always fit well with human-designed hats and eyeware. You may find that some look a little strange. Same for enemy crews as faces and outfits for them are randomly selected.
   
   
2. Games saved while running Star Traders Mod will crash if run without Star Traders Mod being enabled. See uninstall directions above to avoid this.

1. "Hey! Something you said was in your Star Warriors mod isn't showing up in my game!" Check to see if Star Warriors mod is set for the LOWEST priority. The lowest priority mod loads last, and overwrites mods written earlier. Disable all other mods and run just the Star Warriors mod alone. If the issue resolves, you are getting interference from another mod. Turn them back on one at a time and run the game each time to see if the issue reappears.
   
   
2. For issues with the Star Warriors mod that you can't resolve, describe the issue in as much detail as you can in the "Comments" section or the Trese Brothers Discord Channel.
   
   
3. If you use another mod that conflicts with the Star Warriors mod, and you can't live without either one, let me know in the Comments section. I will contact the author to see if they will let me incorporate their mod into the Star Warriors mod.

I hope that you'll enjoy playing Star Traders: Frontiers with the Star Warriors mod as much as I enjoyed making the Star Warriors mod! May The Force will be with you!
