Also I want to add that I was able to launch the game via the Linux launcher just fine so it’s possible that any steam deck users can ignore step 5.5
I am sure there is some technical way you could do it by setting something up on Steam Deck but that is beyond me, I apologize.
I believe you would have to transfer them back and force manually. Cloud storage would likely make it easiest.
firstly, beyond running umineko project for the first time, the main reason to run the game as admin is because it puts the save files in a place it doesn't have permissions to write
you CAN fix this by launching the game as admin every time,
however you can also open ons.cfg in notepad and add a line with "save=saves\" to make the game simply save in a different folder
if you do this, the game doesn't need to be run as admin beyond first launch anymore
(though you may need to move old saves into the new folder if you want to keep progress...)
there's a similar thing where adding "env[verify]=none" will skip file verification
the game does file verification when run for the first time for good reason,
but if it keeps doing it every time despite file verification succeeding,
or if verification's only issue is that you did step 6 too early (like me),
this can fix it
Have you also been running the game as administrator?
On Windows? I have not heard of that issue before, if it keeps persisting, it could be good to do a fresh install. I am also guessing your PC is decent? We aren't talking about a really old one right?
