Claude Monet - Les Coquelicots

Welcome to Claude Monet - Les Coquelicots. This map (?) is a recreation of Monet's painting[fr.wikipedia.org] using various types of trees across the entire 81 tiles. I'd like to thank Ingenium for suggesting doing a map inspired by Monet. Also, big thanks to niknak902 who indirectly inspired me with this map. That's where I got the idea of using trees as "paint".
These two things together resulted in what you see here. I hope you like it. There isn't a particular reason why I chose this specific painting, other than the fact that it looked easier to replicate than the others. Other paintings had either too many colours or too many shades of the same colour, which would be very hard to recreate with workshop trees.

This map has 2.696.969 trees, therefore you'll need the Tree Anarchy mod. You'll have to activate it in the Content Manager, then, before loading the game, you'll have to go in Options and set the tree limit to any number above 2,7 million. Read the mod's description for more information.


Since this is not really suitable for a normal game I don't really know why someone would want to use this map, but if you come up with something creative it'd be great to see what can be done with this map! If you want to do a normal play of this map, I have put a simple highway and rail connection (mostly underground). The start square also has two little ponds for water and sewage (see the last screenshot to find where they are located). There's also a plane route located in the upper part of the map.

The map is mostly flat, however I added a bit of ondulation in the clouds and in the left part of the field that's supposed to be more elevated that the foreground. Set your terrain brush to an height of 60m in case you want to flatten things out, or use the Total Terrain Tool mod to set everything to 60m.

You can find the image I used for reference among the screenshots, you can use the Image Overlay mod to show it in-game.

I have used the Not So Rocky Theme, which is not strictly necessary. I painted some ore and oil below the trees, in case you want some resources. The ore is also used as some drier grass in some spots, so using a different theme may look a bit weird.

I used the Relight Warm LUT, but you can choose any LUT you want, most of them will look ok anyways. If you're using Relight you can lower the contrast (to -0.9 or so), I find that this makes all the colours blend slightly better.

If you need to paint some parts of the map I suggest using the Picker mod to select the right tree. The only brush I made with the Forest Brush mod is the one I used for the grass, here's the settings:
