"Alchemical innovations (and innovations in general, for that matter) are often spurred on by someone deciding to go against core tenets that most people consider obvious and unbreakable. In the case of our subject, one Nyx Alope thought to herself, "what if one was to use Mors in a medical product?"

To most, this would be a laughable suggestion; after all, medicine is the process of maintaining vitality. However, a clever alchemist found that a particular structure of Mors and Vitae, rather than causing death, simply had a numbing effect, temporarily "deadening" nerve cells.

Despite protestation by Alope's peers, the compound went through clinical testing and was found to be both safe and effective, hitting store shelves in 1892. Since then, Alope's original design has of course went through many further iterations by other alchemists, but here we present the original compound she produced back in the day."
