Find Axes and Sledgehammers

ANNOUNCEMENT
With the new build on the way and no way to guarantee updates, I just want to add on here that I open this mod up for anyone to take and do as they wish. You can add it to your mod, re-upload with any fixes, etc. I don't need any credit.


Axes and Sledgehammers are a bit more common now. It doesn't feel as if they are mythical creatures bestowed unto us by the lord themself, RNGesus.

This mod only affects vanilla tools (the two type of sledgehammers and the fireman axe, and wood axe). Any added by a mod is untouched and left at the same rarity the mod set them to. If you add this to an established game, it only affects containers in areas you have not visited yet, or containers that respawn loot after the mod is activated.

Lastly, I added the sledge hammer to a couple more distro lists concerning tools that they weren't on before. This should also increase chances of finding them a bit more. I say this in case you find a sledge in a container you were sure didn't spawn them before.

Mod Options selections and suggestions -
This should go over the choices of Rarity and Roll Chance.

Roll Chance is simple. It adds #x number of times to the distribution tables. The higher the number, the more chances it will be rolled on for the container. I found that raising this makes the items show up more often than raising Rarity.

In my tests, 1x still made sledgehammers pretty rare, but was able to find axes well enough to not worry as much. 2x made sledges and axes common enough where I found at least 1-2 in each location I tested in. This was with Rarity still set to Rare chance.

Rarity has a bit more complexity. This is where I raise the weight of the item. I found raising this up had a slower progression. The different levels isn't as linear as Roll Chance, so maybe test it out a bit before committing to the game.

Sweet Spot settings -
In my tests, these settings hit more of a sweet spot.

Rarity: Sometimes chance
Roll Chance: 1x
A rarer feel (but still more common than no mod). Felt like a late game where the tools were already picked by other survivors, though you could still come across one now and then.

Rarity: Rare chance
Roll Chance: 2x
The tools were common enough. Felt like an early game setting where you would find these tools more commonly before widespread panic set in.

You can play with these settings to find your own sweet spot. And even change them in the options screen (Will need to go back to main menu and reload the game for the new selections to work).

Word of warning of setting these too high, Axes and Sledgehammers may be the only things you find if you do. But that decision is yours to make.
