Head in the sand

You, your wife, Scarlet, and your daughter, Ally, recently moved to a little picturesque beachtown called Mallton for work. You rented a studio appartment and it looked like this would be the perfect location to settle down: A spacious, modern home with a vast view of the bay, a boardwalk right outside your door with plenty of cafes and shops next to a beautiful golden beach. Little did you know, that beach would come back to haunt you later...

After the arrest of the Adamont Park killer, the police could finally take a break and city council could use their funding for something other than catching a serial killer. So, they laid eyes on Mallton's dilapitated road network, planning to resurface the entire network by the end of next year. But after six months they concluded that they'll need a lot more capital than they anticipated, Resulting in a drastic budget cut which manifested itself all over the city. From less public transport to more expensive bills to the termination of active lifeguards at the beach...

You weren't aware of this, as council was trying to hide that they were hemorrhaging money on a notoriously idealistic project. So as usual, you let your 8-year-old daughter have fun at the beach whilst you and your wife ran errands. Until one day, she wasn't home at 6, not even at 7. You became to worry and scoured the beach hoping to find her. After a two hour long desperate search for Ally, you ran to the police station to file a missing persons report. But at the station, that idea got cut short by the police receiving a phonecall about a child that drowned in the bay. You turned to your wife who fell in your arms and broke down. It felt like nothing really matters anymore.

Two months later and things didn't get much better: You're still a wreck, the roadworks made barely any progress and there's still no lifeguard stationed at the bay. And after realizing what the city is up to, that they caused your daughter's death, and later heard from neighbours that that day some people saw a girl in the water in distress, but did nothing about it, you were fuming. Deciding the only way to get justice for what the city has done, is to let the bay reclaim this sadistic hellhole which is Mallton. Your wife joined in and together you'll tear this city a new one.
