Background:
"Don't tap the glass."
- an annoyed security officer

Hipparchus Station is spaceport located in deep space along a widely used jump route. Named after the mathematician who made models of the motion of the sun and moon, the station was built with a day night lighting cycle to provide familiarity and have a positive psychological impact on those living on the station long term. Its utilitarian grey exterior hides a spacious and bright interior with bright coloured stores and several advertisement boards. Most areas in the station have elevators and ramps for wheelchair access and easy transportation of heavy boxes.

Safety is at the core of the station's design, which has been modified and repaired several times over the years. Its original reactor room had to be jettisoned due to a malfunction so the station now relies on batteries built into the walls and a solar panel array. The hydrogen engines and reactors it has at present were just attached to its exterior as backup energy sources and aren't necessary for its energy requirements.

Space pirates have been getting their hands on more dangerous ships recently so Hipparchus has several turrets and an automatic lockdown mode that prevents deaths in the case of depressurisation. Bulkheads segment the areas of the station and alarms and lights alert people to the danger immediately. Should the worst occur there area two lifeboats that can be launched in an emergency and emit a distress beacon.
_____________

Locations:
Hangar Bays:
+ There are 2 bay areas, hangars A1 and A2, each with a connector. Both can be pressurised separately from the rest of the station
+ Timer functions that allow for safe pressurisation and depressurisation of hangars A1 and A2
+ A sensor on the exterior allows the hangar to initiate safe depressuriation with an orange blinking light indicating to ships waiting to enter that the hangar is opening
+ Yellow caution patterns and lettering make it easier to see the size of the entrance

Docks:
+ 2 STA-1 compatible airtight docking airlocks, A3 and A4, allow medium sized ships (or large vertical ships) to dock without oxygen loss.

Cargo Bay:
+ Located between the hangars and docks, the cargo area has two large cargo containers
+ Sorter functions enable items to easily be taken in and out of the containers
+ On the exterior above the cargo bay is a collector area to dump resources into

Staff Area/Control Tower:
+ 1 control seat and 2 control stations with a glass window surrounding them
+ Direct access to the station's refinery and assembler through the orange door
+ 3 programmable blocks (2 in use, 1 spare)
+ Exterior access basic airlock for maintenance
+ Elevator for staff
+ Timers and batteries lining the stairs up to the elevator

Atrium Areas:
+ Several stands and stores line station, most on the lower deck
+ Contracts, vending machines and an ATM can all be found in the station's atriums
+ Motion sensitive camera (small grid attached via rotor to the large grid) can be found in the upper atrium
+ There is plenty of seating for guests
+ Security checkpoint seperates the hangar areas from the lower atrium
+ Bulkheads are spread out across the atriums to enable a lockdown in the event of a breach or attack
+ Public toilet and shower are available on the upper deck

Cafeteria:
+ Many tables, chairs and couches for people to eat food at or just relax, surrounded by large glass windows
+ Public toilet is available on the lower deck in the cafeteria area
+ Motion sensitive camera (small grid attached via rotor to the large grid)

Station Medical Center:
+ Medbay
+ 4 Cyrogenic chambers
+ Toilet
+ Gate for quarantine control in the medbay area
+ A sterlising gate that cleanses people of unwanted bacteria (passage frame with sensor and exhaust block)

Stairwell:
+ Stairwell
+ Elevator between decks (with music)

Apartments:
+ 3 small apartments with approx. 2 beds each and toilets and showers on the upper deck
+ A luxury apartment with 3 beds, kitchen, toilet and shower and a large window, located at the lifeboat area
+ A rental complex with shared kitchen facilities, split into two 'crew' apartments containing 6 people each, a single bedroom apartment and a 2 bedroom apartment

Lifeboat Area:
+ Open floor area with plenty of room for many people
+ 2 lifeboats that can be launched at the press of a button (using the lifeboat's flight seat). Launching propels the lifeboat within 0.1 seconds at high speed with overridden forward thrust, then slowing the lifeboat to a halt once it's about 1 km from the station. When it stops the lifeboat switches to manual control and activates a distress beacon that can be toggled if one needs to hide from attackers.
+ 3 small cargo containers on the floor of each lifeboat
+ Lifeboats each contain a kitchen, bed, toilet and shower
+ A basic form of airlock built into the lifeboats mean that even after launch opening the door won't vent the entire boat's oxygen supply

Refuelling Area:
+ A connector on the underside besides hydrogen tanks

Other:
+ The station is powered by batteries built into the walls. A solar panel array, hydrogen engines and small reactors can be found on the exterior.
+ Assembler and refinery production facilities are also on the exterior
+ Communications antenna dish is on top of the station's control tower
_____________

Additional information:
+ Ensure subgrids are enabled in your world because the hinged solar panels, dish antenna, elevators and motion sensitive cameras do all count as subgrids.
+ Despite the amount of moving parts the station has been tested for clang and so far it hasn't seen any destructive clang side-effects
+ The station does use scripts so ensure scripts are enabled before putting it into your world
+ The station isn't intended to be moved much. It has two stabilisers with ion thrusters and some gyroscopes keep it steady when ships connect to it but no jump drive
+ Originally I was going to use my lifeboat design in a separate build and many of its blocks were labelled 'A1'. I think I've renamed most of them but might've missed some, in which case try not to confuse them with the A1 Hangar blocks.
+ The timers and buttons are set up to be as foolproof as possible so if you spamclick the button it won't ruin the opening/closing sequence of doors, turn lockdown mode on/off, etc

Script credits (highly recommend checking out these talented script-makers):
MMaster's Automatic LCDs
Whip's Auto Door Script

+ Font used in screenshot title: 'Decohead' by Headfonts
+ Motion sensitive camera mechanics are based on a light that follows you, from a Youtube video made by BlackArmor (Steam blocked the link as 'malicious' so I've removed it. Just google 'Space Engineers BlackArmor' and you'll find the video I'm talking of)
