European | Custom Highways | Tree Anarchy Mod

This map is based on a 1:1 scale heightmap of the region between Loket and Karlovy Vary in Czech Republic, a location suggested to me by Sidai. The area is dominated by the Ohře River and tributaries that cut through an industrial and forested mountainous landscape.

Karlovy Vary is the site of numerous hot springs (13 main springs, about 300 smaller springs, and the warm-water Teplá River), and is the most visited spa town in the Czech Republic. The historic city centre with the spa cultural landscape is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument reservation. It is the largest spa complex in Europe. In 2021, the city became part of the transnational UNESCO World Heritage Site under the name "Great Spa Towns of Europe" because of its spas and architecture from the 18th through 20th centuries.

Detailing has been kept to a bare minimum (no props) and the map uses only low-poly trees, albeit a lot of them so you'll need the Tree Anarchy mod.

Instructions
  1. Subscribe to all required items.
  2. Start Cities Skylines, enter Content Manager to activate any new mods. Ensure your ‘Tree Anarchy' settings enable at least 1,500,000 trees on load otherwise your map will be broken. Play it safe by setting Tree Anarchy to the maximum!
  3. Map is now ready for playing.
  4. Set TMPE lane connection instructions at junctions to ensure vehicles don't cross the central reservation (see screenshot).

Finally...

I made this map in one week while isolating with Covid to try to keep me sane. The absence of any prop detailing is intentional (to reduce assets) and designed to force me to play this map and build / detail, rather than being stuck in the map editor. This is my last map, for a while...

@svendae thanks for your comments. Yes TMPE is very much recommended, as explained in the description above but not a required item for the map to load.

Nice map with very good fps. It starts with major traffic problems though, which might be unsolvable without TMPE and Fine Road Anarchy (which you need for upgrading the roundabouts and adjacent roads). You might consider listing those as requirements. Alternatively, unlimited money for rebuilding roads. Minor water issue with the side river in the north-west.
