The Air Exchange, also known as the Air Conditioner, AirEx or the Combine's atmospheric reprocessor, is a facility that is supposed to replace the air with noxious, murky gases, with its main reactor powered by a raw Dark Energy reactor. The transported air was designed to make the surrounding region breathable for Advisors at the cost of making the air highly toxic for human life, which caused most of the surrounding inhabitants to wear gas masks. It was meant to suck the earth's atmosphere through a portal to operate dimensional turbines to generate power for other dimensions.

Due to the sudden, and violent, appearance of the Combine first holding place within the United States, these said devices were utilized in the 7 Hour War. However mostly destroyed, nonetheless, still left most of North America inhospitable to human's and other biological fauna except that of Xen. The Beta Unit made it their goal to recreate said device albeit on a minuscule scale compared to the actual thing.

Requires Half-life 2 and episodes, involving lost cost, probably not deathmatch.
