Merchant Marine: Professions

Description
Merchant Marine: Professions is a collection of professions, job, and talent changes for STF. It is compatible, but does NOT REQUIRE Merchant Marine. The author split this mod off from Merchant Marines in order to allow players to have access to these professions, jobs, and talent changes without requiring the full commitment to Merchant Marine.

Profession list: Xeno Scourge (v0.80), Xeno Stalker (v0.70).
Major Job Changes: Sniper
Minor Job Changes: Military Officer, Commander, Bodyguard, Combat Medic,
Pistoleer

Progress and Contribution
The Xeno Scourge is mostly done. The Xeno Stalker is getting there. I'd love to hear feedback and alternative recommendations for any of these. If you'd be willing to work on Icons, I could use the help. Likewise, if you have ideas for your own profession and would like to add it to this pack or get help starting your own mod.

Xeno Scourge
Concept
The Xeno Scourge is a Commander variant of the Xeno Hunter. It trades in all of the crew combat and exploration talents for ship combat and strategic talents.

Traits
  • Dread Legacy (Xeno Hunter) - Bearing a charter stained in the blood of xeno, gains extra Rep bonus with all factions in a quadrant for destroying a Xeno ship and a personal XP bonus
  • Unyielding - Defeat is unimaginable, gains +10% Accuracy, +5% Defense, +10% Protection against Crew and Morale Dmg/Turn in Ship Combat

  • Rekindled Resolve (8) Stops mutiny by killing lowest morale crewmember

Xeno Stalker
Concept
The Xeno Stalker is a crew combat variant of the Xeno Hunter. It trades in all of the exploration, ship, and strategic talents for more crew combat and tactical talents.
Not functional.

Traits
  • Dread Legacy (Xeno Hunter) - Bearing a charter stained in the blood of xeno, gains extra Rep bonus with all factions in a quadrant for destroying a Xeno ship and a personal XP bonus
  • Inner Flame (Xeno Hunter) - Resolute and unwavering in the hunt, +2 Resilience, +1 Fortitude, +2 Initiative, +15% Armor and Morale will never drop below 50

  • Steady Guidance (1) - Reroll Explore Card
  • Iridium-Laced Resolve (1) - Buff on Init
    vs Xeno
  • Energy Grenade Launch (1) - Debuff front enemies
  • Irresistible Lure (1) - Replace Explore Card with Xeno
  • Plasma Charge (1) - +10 plasma damage to all allies for 5 turns
  • Rage Gamit (5) - In crew combat, Rifle Attack. Successful attack causes +100% damage, +100% accuracy, -100% defense, +4 Initiative, -25% Deflection, and -20 plasma resistance for 3 Turns
  • Macabre Gleaning (5) - Upon victory in crew combat against xeno, xenobiological expertise allows harvesting a number of Xeno Artifacts up to Explorer Skill
  • Resolute Stand (5) - In crew combat, Removes all Debuffs; Buff yourself with +25% Deflection, +20% Armor, +50% To Resist Debuffs for 3 Turns, Heals (10 + 0 Intimidate) HP and Morale
  • Weak Points (5) - In crew combat, Crippling Rifle Attack with +16 Plasma Damage, +20% Armor Piercing; successful hit causes -25% Deflection, -5% Armor, -20 Energy (Plas/Rad) Resist for 3 Turns
  • Reaper's Haunt (8)- In crew combat, Removes all Debuffs; Buffs 3 targets with +10% Critical for 3 Turns and Restores for (30 + 0 Intimidate) Morale
  • Plasma Jet (8) - In crew combat, Rifle Attack hits 2 targets with +36 Plasma Damage, +5% Critical
  • Kindred Spirit (8) - Recruiting talent
  • Vehement Surge (8) - In crew combat, buff 2 targets with +4 initiative, but -10 poison damage/turn for 3 turns
  • Overzealous Reputation (11) - When accessing a Black Market, a fanatical reputation resolves many awkward situations, avoid security and any Cargo Lost card
  • Blood Tithe (11) - When accepting a Mission to hunt xeno, increases payment by Charisma + Intimidate Skill % in addition to bonuses from standard Mission Talents
  • (15) - EOC heal doesn't work

Known Bugs
  • Some of the talents impact more or less targets than the code would suggest. This is due to how much of the original talents were special-case hard coded.
  • Stiff Salute talent works on any ship type
  • Xenocide talents have gui issues but function correctly in applicable circumstances

A list of talent changes would be nice I think, considering you cant rely on official wiki anymore when using this.

Ooh. That certainly sounds very good. The melee hunter variant sounds quite interesting. They'd truly be the blade to strike them down.

The talent (Stalker 15, not Scourge, I was mistaken earlier) wasn't working and so I removed it. I'm still trying to come up with something that is cool enough to be the level 15 talent.

I'm not aware of anything that cause crashes. It is stable. There are some bugs I've listed in the description that I'm trying to resolve.

The next profession is probably going to be a melee Xeno Hunter Variant. With the weapon and armor revamp completed, I really wanted to find a way to create a dual wielding Xeno Assassin. I haven't gotten very far on it though.

Ooh. Gotcha. But how is it not functional? Does it crash the game, or does it just not activate?
I'll be sure to integrate both jobs into my game then.

@CaptainKampfkeks It's pretty cool actually. If there was a mod that increased Xeno invasion % across systems, it would be even better.

Both the Stalker and the Scourge are mostly functional. I have a few bugs that I'm trying to resolve, but nothing too drastic in them. The only major thing is that the Scourge 15 Talent isn't functional.

Also a combat Xenocidal Demolitionist that can do maybe mid range fighting but is primarily useful for leaving behind nasty surprises for xeno-ships.
