A collection of custom roads where bikes are the intended primary road users, and motor vehicles are relegated to side lanes with lower speed limits. The intention is to heavily encourage travel by bike (and by foot) and to heavily discourage all but necessary motor-vehicle traffic (mainly service vehicles and commercial deliveries).

Bikes-first roads are not intended to replace all the roads in your city, but to work alongside traditional motor-vehicle roads. They cost about the same to build as their traditional counterparts, but they have lower maintenance costs due to bicycles producing less wear, as well as lower noise pollution due to lower speeds and fewer motor vehicles.
