Unlike the basic batteries the City 17 Combine use, the beta unit pushes dark energy to its potentials by applying vortal energies to it giving it that teal hue. Similar concept that the Combine utilized to capture G-man with, although used much more liberally ensuring that it yields much more lethal, effective, and even chaotic, results.
