Armenian Nights (alt. 1943)

The year is 1943 and the Wehrmacht has seized the Caucasus from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea. Not only that but it has pushed from Baku and Tbilisi into Persia leaving the British and remnant Soviet forces there reeling. Von Manstein is the celebrated hero of his home country and many can't help but feel that there can be no stopping the German hordes of 'Fall Blau'.

But there is still hope in the mountains of the Armenian Upland. The British 10th Army and the remnants of the Soviet Persian Front, while bloodied and tired, are still up for a fight. With victory in North Africa all but assured more and more reinforcements trickle towards the British line while fresh new Soviet divisions cross the Caspian Sea to lend a hand to the coming counterattack. With von Manstein's forces overstretched and wounded it has been decided that the time to strike is now - a true Allied counteroffensive to drive the Axis back through the mountains!

It will not be easy; the Germans now use the rugged terrain to shield their battered divisions and as the spring turns the soil to mud the very ground seems to fight the Allied forces at every turn. A great victory here looks unlikely but should it be successful then there is a chance that Baku itself could be liberated in time and the Germans' great victory could turn to ash in their mouths...


(This ahistorical scenario is an unofficial sequel to the Stalingrad DLC ahistorical track (taking place after the 'Yerevan' scenario), depicting an immediate counteroffensive launched by the Commonwealth forces (plus Poland) as well as the remnants of the Soviet armies in the area. Should this be successful enough (or if I feel like it) I might just make a sequel that depicts a further attack aimed at Baku and Georgia. Have fun!
