a certain desert dwelling - Kakoonie :D

IMPORTANT:This is just the exterior so this can function as a backdrop/background and is pretty to look at. The interior is not done (and probably never will be by me).

This has excessive lights, Si (structural integrity) issues no spawners etc. again really just background, but worth to mention for the spawn as a heads up.

other ramblings from the builder:
obviously this is inspired by star wars tatoonie, who would have guessed ^^. i worked of some reference pictures that i could find. turned out okay for the most part, still looks a bit blocky. i did not want to go too big. thats why there is no space ship landing area (the arena looking one where the falcon lands, but that one could be done with blocks fairly well). that said i think you could easily scale this up to a city, the buildings are pretty simple and i already copy pasted some stuff that i reused -> round towers.

this was originally an older build, i think i started with the first star wars thing i build , the t3-m4 racer. but at the time we did not have the blocks to make proper round houses. so i kinda forgot and shelfed it. currently it still has some limitations. like for the bar we miss a proper round table for example (why no half high cylinder and just ugly deco tables we will never know?). the lower entrances are kinda hard to do and look not right i think with all the limitations the filler blocks have. for giving of the tatoonie vibe/feel i tihnk it still works nontheless, even with all the drawbacks.

i put in some lighting to make it look pretty. sadly with the "new improved performance" (= bad lighting) shoots at night do not looks good if you are not right in front of things. some building just have a light inside to give a glow. if you add an interior this is something that might have to be changed.

for the bar i had some idea for a secret above the bar section. there is a shutter in preperation for that, might need a raling block instead, but raling looked bad, but sadly needed gameplay wise so the player can shoot it (or predamaged shutter). you have the block space above the bar to add something small (=why i thought airvent secret). the elevator in the back was to add some toiletts/bathroom. i felt a bar without that is a bit awkward. one might argue there is the desert outside, but yeah, i felt a toilett might be nice + could be some lower level storage etc.
otherwise on the interior, i started some archways in the hangar. i was imagining this building having larger archways. but looking at it again, not sure if that fits. otherwise you need to add at least 1 blockrow to add a ground/floor in most buildings (to use the bar planed lower area 2 rows). for the lower entrances (interior below ground in general) you need to keep the filler blocks propertiers in mind. at least 1 entrance needs some blocks on the inside to fit that properly. just to be save you should probably recheck if i covered this correctly and you might have to do some support, since some blocks jsut connect over the edges, which does work with SI, but looks visually closed off.

the well i thnk thematically and lore wise for star wars does not fit. but i wanted to use the water block and needed something to make the plaza between the buildings not as empty.

the outside archways/bridges area i originally intended and set up to by drivable by the sandchaser podracer ... but then added a bit to much detail(=clutter). so it is currently a bit hard and you might easily get stuck, but still possible. for smaller racer, this sill should be fine.

to use as a player base -> this was never intended as such, since underground things are hard/bad to do there, if you do not dig them out yourself. you might want to replace the filler blocks with others and give them the carpet texture with some sand looking color. some desert poi's use this technique and it looks fairly decent.
for forbidden blocks that you need to remove:
- the trader in the bar.
- some loot container hidden inside the large cargo crate mountain
- filler blocks
- some spice+plantfibre plants
- water blocks

its under npc stuff, since it is technically a settlement, even if the only NPC is one trader currently ;)

i tagged this with air tight, even tho in the current state it is not, but the building are technically all airtight when build out properly.

so yeah - that's all that comes to my mind with this poi, concerning things that might or might not be important to mention + the "why no interior"-section below, which includes my ideas on the buildings interior. (some like the trader had the crates in front and the sign for that reason.)

@the inteior is not done, why?:
i did not need the interior and could not find any reference piuctures to go off. except the bar - thats why this is done + i wanted to see how close i could get on this one with the newer blocks. To that comes interior work is wayyyy more time intersive then the exterior and i did not wanted to invest that in a poi, that will probably only function as a picture background for my screenshots. so yeah ... in the end: will the interior be done by me? probably not. [probably because you never know, but 99,999% NO]. feel free to let your creativity lose on the interior sections and upload your stuff ;)

for the buildings what i thought in terms of interior while building:
- large round igloo (where the bar is) -> obviously the bar, the elevator lower level is intended for a toilette/facilities, maybe storage
- the one with the big cargo crate mountain in front -> trader, i was guessing general goods, but who knows
- the small double igloo with the scrap behind -> normal living/housing or maybe some scrap merchant, kinda unsure on that one
- the well -> kinda done. i mean you only have the water inside. could be some storage, if you dont like the water.
- the single smaller building next to the well -> was thinking storage or housing, not really much space there
- hangar building, hangar section -> pod racer chop shop (and more, i dont really know, it's a large building, maybe racing/betting area on top with the window?)
- hangar building the other side (with the double door near the well) -> maybe some inn/tavern, mainly to rent rooms etc. with the double doors i was thinking this needs to be some communal building, not private housing

@fideldidumm: sry dieses jahr viel mit anderen sachen beschäftigt so das gar nicht soviel zeit f empyrion bleibt. das tatoonie set ist aber ein "eventuell als buildset", weil es recht viele Leute geil finden und verwenden also vielleicht irgendwann mal ein revisit.

@José the builder: very very cool what you did with the buildings.

Thank you for the job you did. Especially on the Kakoonie and Kator structure. Those, inspired me for POIs on our server. Those are fully completed (interior included) with quests and missions. Hope that you can see part of your structures in my POI.(our work link below)

Schade, aber bemessen am Umfang unseres Projekts werden wir mit derzeitiger Besetzung noch so ca ein halbes Jahr brauchen. Wenn du in dieser Zeit lust hast dich nochmal so richtig auszutoben funk mich einfach an.
Ansonsten wünsch ich eine erholsame Pause

Hättest du evtl. lust an einem größerem Serverprojekt zu arbeiten?
