Library of Lingering

He always had something to tell about his travels. Whether it was spelunking in old caves unexplored for years, picking his way through abandoned military installations or allowing himself to be swept up in matters of foreign dealings, he would impart his knowledge to you whenever he could. The various trinkets and gifts he would present to you as you grew up would have you slowly develop an interest for this more carefree way of life.
Alas, this inspiration was not to last. Like most others, you turned out to be average in every sense of the word. A non risk taker, getting accustomed to the daily routine and monotony of every day. You grew distant from your grandfather and began to forget his words and personality.
You attended the funeral as soon as you heard. It came as a surprise that no one seemed to remember his stories except you. This brought back your intrigue of his accomplishments that you heard so much about and returned home with an overwhelming feeling that he had not told you everything that you wanted to know about.
The intense dreams struck soon after. Tossing and turning on your bed you are unable to make out what exactly is going on but certain images float through your mind: the local library and a small yellow book with a creme strip. There's a relation between the yellow book and your grandfather that you know must be the final words of advice that he intended to tell. These dreams continue relentlessly for the next couple of nights until you have had enough. Waking up in a sweat one midnight, you know what must happen. Grabbing an axe and a flashlight, you scramble to drive to the library and hope that the side entrance will be easy to get into. The time is now to decide your next course of action.
