Description:

The Crate is a light Frigate that can be used for basic mining, salvaging, or as a support ship in addition to fielding up to 13 Armed turrets. It is an all round versatile ship for exploring the outer regions of the galaxy.

Turret Placement (February, 2022)

Due to a bug with Middle Block Snapping on sloped surfaces like Edge and Turret Edge Base blocks, specific Grid Spacing values are required on Local Snapping depending on the size of the hardpoint you are trying to mount certain size turrets to. Here is a table with the values I have used:

If any of my designs do not allow turret placement with the above Grid Spacing values on Local Snapping, please post a comment on the design's publication page as I may have forgot to update the turret edge blocks for some.

Updated September 8th, 2025.

New colour scheme, better turret placement (see updated table in description), added bigger Docking Bays top and bottom, added Light and Striped Hull blocks and fixed a few mistakes. The ship has 6 Sub-System Sockets (was 5) and an internal red framework that can be replaced with something like a shield or additional cargo space.

I'm going to be honest, as much as I love your ship designs and how GOOD they are...I would really appreciate versions of these ships without the angled turret blocks. Something like the Assault Cruiser with its flat turret hardpoints, since trying to get the turrets placed using your table is still a bit frustrating.

I absolutely love this ship. It has been so much fun do use and learn the game with. I’m terrible at designing my own so I greatly appreciate a fine piece of work like this. Looking forward to upgrading it as I work my way towards core.
