Il progetto della locomotiva D141, locomotiva diesel ad azionamento elettrico, venne concepito in un periodo storico in cui, in Italia, non erano ancora presenti locomotive diesel da manovra realmente adatte allo scopo (fatta eccezione per le Ne120, poi D143). Per la realizzazione di queste locomotive in tempi brevi, venne richiesto un finanziamento ad EUROFIMA e venne rielaborato, in linea di massima, il progetto delle SNCF BB 63000.
Questa macchina nasce con la filosofia del veicolo polifunzionale, ovvero adatto sia alle manovra negli scali, sia alle tradotte in linea. Il periodo in cui le D141 vennero impiegate intensivamente come veri treni merci fu la seconda metà degli anni 90.
Nei primi anni 80, sette di queste locomotive ricevettero una riqualificazione che prevedeva l'installazione di un nuovo e più potente motore da 515kw. La modifica non venne estesa a tutto il gruppo poichè, nello stesso esatto periodo, erano in consegna le D145, con una potenza doppia già dalla fabbrica.
Le informazioni su queste locomotive sono frammentarie: tuttavia, dovrebbero essere tutte accantonate. Una sola unità è stata preservata per fini storici.

The project of the D141 locomotive, a diesel electric locomotive, was conceived in a historical period in which, in Italy, there were no diesel shunting locomotives really suitable for the purpose yet (except for the Ne120, later D143). For the construction of these locomotives in a short time, financing was requested from EUROFIMA and the project of the SNCF BB 63000 was basically reworked.
This locomotive was born with the philosophy of the multifunctional vehicle, that is suitable both for yards shunting and for conventional freight services. The period in which the D141s were intensively used as real freight trains was the second half of the 1990s.
In the early 1980s, seven of these locomotives received a redevelopment which included the installation of a new and more powerful 515kw engine. The modification was not extended to the whole group as, in the exact same period, the D145s were delivered, with double of the power already from the factory.
Information on these locomotives is patchy; however, they should all be dismissed. Only one unit was preserved for historical purposes.
