Warthog - Close Air Support - Single player only

This is a 4 mission single player campaign which was designed for the A-10 Mod. (Mod sadly no longer available but missions can be flown with F/A-26B)

The missions are based on the close air support role of the A-10 during the 1991 Desert Storm conflict and has some randomised objectives for you to complete.

The campaign contains a variety of different target types to hit, some of them will be time critical, with lots of custom radio messages and there is also real audio chatter from actual A-10 and Apache close air support missions to provide a fully immersive experience.

If so, would you know any missions for single player that don't contain AA, cause I'd love to use the A-10 but not worry about out turning 50g missiles in a brick

Is there any enemy AA or jets in this mission?

Yes and it would make it difficult to use the no waypoints/GPS points. However I am going to create a whole new campaign called “Hogs in The Sand” which will be based on a book of the same name. I will incorporate the best bits of Warthog in the Desert and enhance the gameplay with weather and the new units and a new map. Going to be a good few week away though

Having no waypoints is an interesting mechanic that I haven't seen anywhere else and I did like. :) Flying back and forth is what broke immersion for me a bit. Maybe ordering the player to just patrol the combat area would give more immersion, but might be complicated to implement and this mission is too old to edit at this point

Glad you enjoyed the immersive side of the mission. I try to make my missions on the more realistic simulation side of things, at least as far as VTOL VR will allow. Real world reality is a lot of time is spent in the air waiting for action, and personally I enjoy the flying / navigation aspect as well as the pure combat side of things.

Played it with the A-10. Great level of immersion thanks to radio messages related to missions, but having to fly back to the bullseye feels like a burden. Maybe because most missions can be completed with just the GAU-8 ( :steamhappy: ) and I didn't have to rearm even once

Yea I will take a look and see if I can use the new A-10. If not I will be writing a new single player campaign either way :steamhappy:

As of now, the way to get the A-10 back does not work, as the Mod Loader (and its required older version) are not hosted on there website anymore but are now to download on steam.
There is no beta version option to revert to an older version.

But the A-10 mod is being re-made :)
So there is hope
