These heavy EMUs were originally built in 1930s to serve the Milan-Varese railway, using third-rail electricity. After WWII Italian State Railways decided to uniform its services by converting these EMUs to use 3kV c.c. aerial catenary. They stayed in service up to the 1980s, when the volume of traffic become overwhelming. Often found coupled with Corbellini carriages in the middle of the consist.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CORRECT PANTOGRAPH USE
(instructions for every engine will also be provided in vehicle description in buying menu).

In any case the train should use THE LAST PANTOGRAPH of the consist. Keep this in mind.

Engines will have different models:
- Isolated: intended to be used as the sole vehicle on the train in general (train is only the engine)
- Alone: intended to be used as the only engine of a consist (1 engine + carriages)
- 1 of 2: intended to be used as the FIRST active engine of a contist (whatever the number of engines)
- 2 of 2: intended to be used as the LAST active engine of a consist (whatever the number of engines)
- off: intended to be used BETWEEN two aforementioned engines. It is not off, it's powered but gets electricity indirectly.

Example of a consist:

>front (Engine 1 of 2) + (Carriage) + (Carriage) + (Engine off) + (Engine 2 of 2) + (Baggage carriage) <back

Queste elettromotrici pesanti vennero costruite originariamente negli anni 30 per effettuare un servizio sulla ferrovia Milano-Varese, utilizzando un sistema elettrico a terza rotaia. Dopo la Seconda Guerra Mondiale vennero uniformate al parco mezzi FS utilizzando la catenaria aerea a 3kV c.c.. Vennero usate fino agli anni 80, finché il volume di traffico non diventò eccessivo. Spesso venivano accoppiate con carrozze Corbellini in mezzo al convoglio.

ISTRUZIONI PER L'USO CORRETTO DEI PANTOGRAFI
(le istruzioni saranno presenti anche nella descrizione del veicolo nel menù d'acquisto)

In ogni caso il treno deve usare L'ULTIMO PANTOGRAFO del convoglio. Ricorda.

Le motrici avranno diversi modelli:
- Isolated: inteso per essere usato come unico veicolo del treno in generale (il treno è solo la motrice)
- Alone: inteso per essere usato come unica motrice di un convoglio (1 motrice + carrozze)
1 of 2: inteso per essere usato come PRIMA motrice attiva del convoglio (qualsiasi sia il numero di motrici)
2 of 2: inteso per essere usato come ULTIMA motrice attiva del convoglio (qualsiasi sia il numero di motrici)
-off: inteso per essere usato IN MEZZO alle due motrici citate prima. Non è spenta, è accesa ma prende l'elettricità indirettamente.

Esempio di un convoglio:
